Today, I participated in our Grad Transitions interviews. This meant that for the most of the day I was scheduled to interview grade 12 students who are having an exit interview as part of their Graduation Transitions credit. This credit is necessary for high school graduation in BC. It was a great opportunity for me to get to know more students and also to get feedback on their high school experiences. Generally, I found the students to be pretty candid in letting me know what they like and don’t like about their high school. Overwhelming, the students were very very positive about their experience at Fraser Heights Secondary. Here is a sample of what they had to say:
Monthly Archives: March 2012
This past weekend, Mar 2 – 4 th students from our school competed in many competitions and came back with much success and the hardware to prove it. At the Math Challengers competition at UBC, grade 8 student Bob Cui came 2nd in BC! He will move on to compete for BC in mathematics.
Our Debate Team competed in the DSABC provincial debate tournament which was held at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. Senior students Yesha Ouyang and Shervin Yousef-Zadeh will both be moving on to the National Debate tournament to be held in Montreal. Individual debate results placed Yesha second overall.
Also our Model UN students participated in CAHSMUN in Vancouver this past weekend. We took three Best Delegate Awards.
Jeff Wu Disarmament and International Security Committee
Avineet Randhawa Organization of Islamic Cooperation Committee
Lorenzo Almonguera International Press Corps
There were 570 delegates in attendance so Fraser Heights taking three awards was quite an honour.
Also, we did really well at the Skills Canada competition. The following students also came home with medals: Jr. Gravity Car – Ryan Volpe and Zachary Hornby – Gold, Cabinet Making – Kassidy Hildebrand – Gold, Cabinet Making – Nico Volpe – Silver, Carpentry – Zac Legris – Bronze.
What an outstanding weekend we had.
